From the crazy mind of Stephen McNeely comes one of the hardest designs you will ever see. The torso jersey is the definition of CATACOMB. Severed torso, dismembered limbs, decapitated head, all infested with worms and maggots. Not for the faint of heart, not that this design has one anymore.

Read below to find out more about Stephen, his process and where to see more of his work.

Where are you from?

I’ve been living my adult years in Los Angeles California for fourteen years. I was born in Austin Texas but grew up in Colorado.

How did you develop your artistic style?

I’ve been an artist since I was a child! In my teenage years i was heavily into graffiti. In my mid twenty’s I started to really get into extreme music. I began to combine my love of art and evil imagery to produce the type of art I am known for currently. Selling artwork to bands, skateboard companies and now a cycling company I’ve taken my style to new heights and I am happy to be exposing it to new audiences.

What is your creative process when working on a project?

My process varies because no two jobs are alike. For this design I decided ahuman torso would look awesome for the front of the jersey. For the back I saidto myself well you can’t forget the severed head accompanied by a maggot colony to form the logo. I did a rough sketch and once the overall design was approved I made a dark outline and added some fine details. After that I nailed the coffin shut with some bright red blood and pinkish flesh to complete the colouring.

What are some of your inspirations?

I’m very inspired by the shocking images I’ve seen associated with some of my favorite BDM albums. The design for this jersey is a combination of my crazy imagination and images that have stuck with me that I’ve witnessed throughout my life.

How would you describe your jersey design?

As a cyclist I’ve always wanted a jersey that paid tribute to my love of death metal and the images that accompany the genre. The design is brutal and not for the faint of heart just like the dedication needed for the sport. I'll cross the finish line dead or alive.
